Gamma Exposure Tools: A Practical Buying Guide
Compare gamma/GEX tools by symbol coverage, update method, model assumptions and chart workflow before choosing a subscription.
Start with the question you need answered
Gamma exposure helps researchers examine how options positioning may affect hedging activity. It can provide context for price areas and volatility; it is not a buy or sell instruction. Decide whether you need premarket levels, intraday changes or broader volatility research before comparing subscriptions.
Four checks that matter
Symbol coverage: SPX, SPY and futures contracts are different data objects. If options levels are mapped to futures, check the conversion method and active contract.
Update method: a premarket snapshot, an open-interest estimate and intraday classified trades answer different questions. For any real-time claim, check timestamps, session coverage and delay.
Model assumptions: assumptions about dealer positions, trade direction and expiration coverage affect the output. Two platforms can report different levels without either being a complete picture of the market.
Workflow: decide whether you need a browser dashboard, TradingView study or API. A vendor supporting an integration does not mean your particular subscription includes it.
Match a tool to a research task
The SpotGamma Alpha, MenthorQ, OptionsDepth, GEXStream, GEXBOT State and QuantedOptions listings are starting points for comparing market-structure research. VolSignals focuses on options hedging flows and volatility; ConvexValue also covers options activity and volatility analysis. Check each listing's delivered version rather than assuming that a brand name includes every module.
A practical purchase checklist
Write down required symbols, acceptable delay, devices and integrations. Start with one tool that answers your main question, then consider a second perspective. Several tools showing similar levels may add duplication rather than useful context. Prices on this site are OGBT's plans; official documentation explains the underlying product and does not establish every entitlement in our offer.
Use the output with context
Record the timestamp, underlying symbol and what happened after price reached a level. Combine the observations with event context and your risk management. Estimates can change and levels can fail. This is a feature-based buying guide, not a hands-on ranking or a promise of trading returns.
